An easy way to understand the concept is to imagine that you have 10 ounces of water that you need to pour out. Let's say, you have an 8 ounce glass and a 12 ounce glass. If you pour the 10 ounces of water into the 8 ounce glass, of course, the water is going to overflow and spill onto the floor. However, if you pour the 10 ounces of water into the 12 ounce glass you can meet your need and still have room for more water. Your air filter works in the same way. You most likely have more airbourne particulates in your air than your 1" filter is equipped to hold. So what happens to the rest of the air particulates that the filter is not equipped to catch? They float back out into your household air and continue to cause allergy flare-ups, sinus issues and other health problems.

The return air grille filter is 5" deep. It will fit a standard 1" size from the list above and then extend 4 inches into your return providing maximum filtration and efficiency.
While the FFRAGF may last up to three times longer than the standard 1" filter the frequency with which you need to change your FFRAGF filter will depend on your indoor air quality. We recommend that you change this filter when you notice a decrease in air flow or at least every 6 months.
