ProTec PDC51 Demineralization Cartridge helps to filter the water in your humidifier by removing large particles and minerals to keep them from dispersing into the air with the water. Minerals in tap water may increase the development of scale or crusty deposits in humidifiers. Scale buildup could create a breeding ground for harmful microorganisms. Some consumers are disturbed by a white dust accumulation that may appear on the surface of their humidifiers while in use. The ProTec Demineralization Cartridge is placed in the bottom of the humidifier unit to reduce airborne mineral pollutants that create white dust buildup. The PDC51 ProTec Cartridge replaces part number DC-51-6. This ProTec PDC51 Cartridge is used for the following Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifiers: Vicks V5100 and Vicks V5100N.
When using impeller and ultrasonic humidifiers, be sure to clean your humidifier when the product is not in continuous use. Follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions before storing your unit in a dry location. Don't forget to dispose of all used ProTec Demineralization Cartridges prior to storage.
