The PURA 36002018 20" UV Replacement Lamp is the replacement bulb for the PURA UV Addon 3, UV20 and UVBB ultraviolet systems. Alternate reference # 20-200.
The PURA lamp is identical to the Pentek 163512 UV Lamp (20-463), which is the replacement lamp for the UV-120 and UVBB-120 ultraviolet systems made by Pentek, Ametek or US Filter (UV-120, UV-120-1, UV-120-2, UVBB-120-1 and UVBB-120-2). It is also known by part number 163512.
These systems use this lamp to expose a germicidal, ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 254 nanometers upon harmful microbes, effectively disrupting their reproductive process. Best of all, it does all of this without the use of harmful chemicals.
Ultraviolet systems do not filter out sediment, particulates or other contaminants. For best results, these lamps and systems should be used in conjunction with a whole house filter. The quartz sleeve surrounding the lamp should be cleaned every three months, while the UV bulb should be replaced every 9-12 months. Though the bulb won't necessarily burn out in that time, its efficiency will significantly decrease after a year.
Never look directly at a lit UV bulb.
