Today we are celebrating and honoring President’s Day, which was also known as Washington’s Birthday. This is a federal holiday that is typically celebrated on the third Monday in February. Some states pay particular attention to Abraham Lincoln, since his birthday is also celebrated in mid-February.

Celebrating Mardi Gras 2012 The Big Easy Way

Every year in New Orleans, Louisiana the traditional Mardi Gras celebration draws thousands of tourists to the city from around the world. This festival includes wearing throw beads, decorative masks, festive costumes, dancing, street parties and a spectacular pageantry of floats, bands and other parade goers. The term “Mardi Gras” is French for Fat Tuesday. On this day, observers eat richer, fatty foods before the Lent season. The three colors selected for Mardi Gras are each symbolic in influence and purpose. Mardi Gras purple symbolizes justice. Mardi Gras green is symbolic of faith. Mardi Gras gold stands for power! Remember to wear the Mardi Gras colors if you are not in a costume.

To celebrate Mardi Gras, Filters Fast selected a few featured products in the traditional festive colors for the occasion.

The Mavea Elemaris XL Water Filter Pitcher Purple 1005727 is a superior water filter pitcher manufactured out of BPA-free plastic boasting a distinct and elegant eggplant purple European style finish. It also features a Smart Meter filter change indicator, which will measure your drinking water’s hardness, volume and length of time in use for your added convenience.

The Mavea Elemaris XL Water Filtration Pitcher Green 1005770 reduces bacteria, dirt and dust, and chlorine taste and odor. It also includes an easy-to-pour lid and a soft handle for a user-friendly design. It has a large 9 glass holding capacity and has a Smart Meter filter change indicator that measures water hardness, volume and length of time in use for your convenience. In addition, the filters of all of your Mavea Pitchers can be recycled through the Mavea recycling program.

The Sprite Gold PureMist Filtered Shower Handle features a 72 inch tangle free hose that gives you easy motion for full body coverage.  The handle features a patented KDF and Chlorgon filtration media that helps to remove chlorine, heavy metals, VOC’s, pesticides, herbicides, hydrogen sulfide, iron oxide and scale.

Mardi Gras, also known as Shrove Tuesday, is the last day of feasting before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. Whether or not you are in The Big Easy for the Mardi Gras festival, celebrate the spirit of the Fat Tuesday flavor wherever you are!

On Tuesday February 14, 2012, the subsidiaries of Filters Fast LLC (FiltersFast.com, W3 Project: Work and Walk for Water and Filters Fast Local Service) surprised the teachers and staff of Indian Trail Elementary School, in Indian Trail, North Carolina with “Thank You for Being My Valentine” gifts. The company treasures the importance of what our hardworking teachers and administrators contribute to the growth and development of our children. Often, these hardworking professionals do not hear or receive our gratitude for what they do five days out of the week.

This is a critical time where we find so many of our schools suffering for basic core necessities due to budget cuts for the fiscal year. Many teachers have to use their personal money to provide these basic and much needed items for their students. For Valentine’s Day, Filters Fast wanted to reach out and simply say thank you to the hard working professionals at Indian Trail Elementary School. We hope that at least for one day, we were able to put a smile on their faces and let them know how very special they are to our community and the educational system.

Filters Fast wants to extend a special thank you to the following staff members from Indian Trail Elementary School who were instrumental in helping us to pull off our Valentine’s Day surprise and for working with us to help them with upcoming projects to benefit the school:

Candice Boatright, Principal
Kelly Ransbottom, Bookkeeper
Allison Audet, Physical Education Teacher
