St. Patrick’s Day: All Things Green

happy saint patricks day

For over 1,000 years, the Irish have observed St. Patrick’s Day as a religious holiday. It is also observed in the United States and abroad with parades, Irish inspired feasts, and of course, green. Since the 17th century, the color green has become an important part of the celebrations and are seen on many clothes, shamrocks and yes, leprechauns.  To get into the festive spirit, we decided to share some of our favorite green items that we offer.

Favorite Green Water Pitcher

The Brita Grand Green Water Pitcher: We love this filtered water pitcher from Brita. A flip-top lid, soft grip handle and electronic filter change indicator light are convenient features that make this a great fit for your home. Our favorite part about this pitcher is that it’s green in more ways than one. First, this Brita pitcher eliminates the need to buy bottled water, which often clogs our nation’s landfills. Secondly, when it’s time for the filter to be replaced, you can recycle it through the Brita recycling program. How’s that for green?

Favorite Green Water Bottle

The Klean Kanteen Be Green Bottle and Loop Cap: Like the Brita water pitcher, this water bottle is also green in more ways than one. Made from BPA free, food-grade stainless steel, this is one of the more eco-friendly water bottles available on the market today. The Klean Kanteen Loop Cap allows you to clip the water bottle to backpacks, camping equipment and more with the Klean Kanteen S-Biner Carabiner. It’s dishwasher friendly and will not retain any flavors or odors, making it a perfect addition to your collection of reusable water bottles.

Favorite Green Humidifier

The Crane Cool Mist Green Frog Humidifier: Its adorability alone makes this a personal favorite of ours. Admit it, the face mesmerizes you. It’s great for use in children’s rooms and provides relief from sinus irritation, nasal congestion and dry skin. The winter months may be nearing an end, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get ahead of the game and get your humidifier for next winter. Even after the numerous health benefits, there’s still that adorable face…

March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day. If you choose to partake in the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, remember to be safe and wear green lest you fall victim to the pinch. Out of all the green items we offer, what is your personal favorite? Tell us your preference in the comments below.

Happy Thanksgiving from Filtersfast.com to You

In 1621, the first Thanksgiving celebration took place in Plymouth Colony (present day Massachusetts). However, it would be more than 200 years later when President Abraham Lincoln designated the final Thursday in November as a national day of Thanksgiving. Congress would make Thanksgiving an official holiday in 1941. There are various Thanksgiving Day traditions that have evolved over the years. Some celebrate by attending a local Thanksgiving Day parade, some choose to crowd the TV and watch the annual football games, and of course, you can’t forget about the Thanksgiving feast as well. Turkey, cakes, various kinds of stuffing and more will be consumed.

No matter how great Thanksgiving traditions are however, it is important to remember what this holiday is all about. Thanksgiving is more than food, TV and parades. It is about being thankful. It is about showing gratitude for what you have in your life.

So what are you thankful for this year? Your answer may vary, but don’t let this day pass without giving thanks.  At Filtersfast.com, we are thankful for you, the loyal customers who make our job worth doing every day. So from the very bottom of our heart, we all say a heartfelt thank you. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, be safe and remember to be grateful on this day of thanks.

Independence Day: Celebrating America

July 4th is right around the corner. While we are preparing for the grilling and all other festivities many of us have lined up, have we stopped to think what the 4th of July is about? Independence Day  is the national holiday of the United States of America that commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. The signing of the declaration took place in Philadelphia by our founding fathers that set forth the path that this country would travel. The first Independence Day celebration took place July 4, 1777 a year after the Declaration was signed. By the early 1800s the tradition of parades, fireworks and picnics were established as the way to celebrate America’s birthday. For many of us, this day means celebrating freedom, the “American Spirit” and so much more that comes with this great country of ours.  In honor of this special occasion, let’s take a look a look at some red, white and blue products.

The Mavea Red Elemaris XL Water Filtration Pitcher is a water filter pitcher constructed from high quality material, including BPA-free plastic. While it may not be cold or flu season, a humidifier can always come in handy. This Crane Cool Mist Humidifier relieves dry skin, coughing, congestion and cold symptoms. This white cool mist humidifier does not contain a heating element, making it safe for use in children’s rooms. Adding to the practicality of this white Crane humidifier is its whisper quiet operation and 11 continuous hours of moisture.

This blue Vapur Anti-Bottle is a reusable Vapur water bottle which features a revolutionary space-saving design. Vapur water bottles are extremely flexible and almost entirely collapsible. When filled with water this Vapur bottle stands up, yet when it is empty it can be rolled up, flattened or folded. Made with BPA free plastic, the inner layer is odor, taste and stain resistant.

Happy Mother’s Day From Filters Fast to You

“Whether it was taking care of us while we were sick
Or lending a helping hand when times got thick
It is times like those when we realized we are truly blessed
Of all the gifts we can give you, a simple “thank you” may do the best” –Kory

Now is the time of year when we all say thank you to our mom. We may take her out for dinner, give roses or maybe even a special mother’s day gift. This Mother’s Day, give the gift of pink. But not just any gift, give the greatest gift that planet Earth has to offer—water. Below are some great gift ideas.

This pink Brita Water Pitcher Filter eliminates the need to buy costly bottled water that is often nothing more than filtered tap water. The Brita filter pitcher allows you to have fresh and cold filtered water on hand in your refrigerator at all times. This pitcher features a flip-top lid, soft grip handle, electronic filter change indicator and will hold around ten glasses of filtered water. The pink lid was created to raise awareness of the need to find a cure for breast cancer.

This Kor One Special Edition Pink Bottle is a reusable water bottle with an elegant design and an elliptical shape. This water bottle offers consistent hydration along with an eye-catching design. KOR also calls this bottle the “United Nations of Water” to highlight how certain areas of the world do not have access to clean water. An added benefit of this pink water bottle is the inclusion of KOR Stones, which is a unique way to have your bottle reflect your personality. KOR Stones are disc-shaped tokens that fit underneath the cap. Every time you take a sip from your reusable water bottle you’ll be treated to a motivational message.

Turn water into air. Yep that’s right. This Crane ultrasonic cool mist humidifier turns cold tap water into cool, humidified air.  This will assist in the prevention of cough, congestion and sinus irritation. It will also help to lessen allergy symptoms as well.

Mother’s Day shouldn’t be just one day, it should be every day. Remember, even a simple thank you can go a long way. And for all you moms out there that are currently reading this, you all are the best! It takes someone truly special to be a mom and you definitely qualify.

Who Needs a Leprechaun for These St. Patrick’s Day Lucky Charms?

Each year on March 17, we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Did you know that the original color associated with St. Patrick was blue? The color blue is often connected to depth and stability, but also symbolizes trust, faith, loyalty, wisdom and truth. As early as the 17th century, however, the color green was worn in celebration of this day. Green is also symbolic of balance, life, nature, fertility, health, good luck, tranquility, well-being and even jealousy.

For over 1,000 years, the Irish observed St. Patrick’s Day as a religious holiday, although it is steeped with deep-rooted folklore. From shamrocks to leprechauns sitting on a pot o’ gold at the end of the rainbow, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in the United States and abroad with Irish inspired feasts, parades and gallantly wearing many hues of green. To commemorate this lucky day and the arrival of spring, we decided to share some of our all time favorite green items that do not require a 4-leaf clover for good luck.

Water Filtration Pitchers: Green Brita Grand Water Filter Pitcher and the Green Elemaris XL Water Filtration Pitcher.

Reusable Water Bottles:  Be Green Klean Kanteen 27 oz Bottle & Loop Cap, Green Vapur Anti Bottle Water Bottle and KOR Delta Sawgrass Green Water Bottle.

Humidifiers: Green Crane EE-5301 Cool Mist Humidifier and Crane Ultrasonic Cool Mist Frog Humidifier.

Ireland is known for its lush green landscape and is thus named the Emerald Isle. Is it really true that if you do not wear green on St. Patrick’s Day you will get pinched by a leprechaun? Moreover, what about the “Fighting Irish” of Notre Dame? Will they wear green on St. Patrick’s Day or are they immune to the pinches by the legendary leprechauns?

Celebrating Leap Day 2012

It only comes around once every four years, but why? Why do we have Leap years? Who came up with the idea of adding an extra day to our calendar? Well, those are all questions we have asked at some point, and the whole purpose of leap year (and significance of the leap day) is very important. The Earth actually takes a little bit longer than a year to travel around the Sun. To be exact, it takes 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds (chiff.com). To account for the discrepancy between the solar year and the man-made calendar year, an extra day was occasionally added to the calendar.  That extra day was chosen to be February 29, and thus, Leap Day was born. Leap Days only occur every four years, as they are only included in years divisible by four (2008, 2012, 2016, etc.).

So now you may ask what if you are born on a Leap Day? Technically your birthday only comes around once every four years, so when do you celebrate? Typically, those born on Leap Day (or “leaplings” as they are usually called) will choose either February 28 or March 1 to celebrate their birthday and some choose to celebrate only on February 29. It is commonly believed that those born on February 29 have unusual talents and personalities. Leap Day is also the one day of the year where women propose to their men, instead of the other way around. Whether you were born on Leap Day, or just like to celebrate the occasion, we here at Filters Fast would like to wish you all a very happy Leap Day!
