In the May issue of Consumer Reports, you’ll find the Consumer Reports Water Filters reviews and recommendations. Consumer Reports reviewed water filters in the following categories: carafes (water filter pitchers), faucet filters, countertop filter systems, undersink filter systems, and reverse osmosis filter systems.
The magazine reviewed some water filters that we carry and others that we do not (as of yet) stock, but I wanted to share with you some of the “best buy” or “recommended” water filters from the article that we carry at Filters Fast.
In the water carafe department, Consumer Reports recommends the Brita Smart Pitcher, which filters out chlorine, lead, mercury, copper, cadmium and zinc, all at the low price of around $48 a year (with our six pack of Brita filter cartridges, you should be able to get that down to just $18 a year!). We also carry a chrome Brita Smart Pitcher.
One of our newest faucet filters, the Culligan FM-15A Faucet Filter, was named a best buy – as was the PUR FM-3700 Faucet Filter, which we will carry very soon. The Culligan Faucet Filter removes far more than most faucet filter systems. In addition to removing the taste and odor of Chlorine, the Culligan FM-15A Filter will remove turbidity (cloudiness), atrazine, lindane, particulates (class 1), cryptosporidium cysts and giardia cysts.
Moving under the sink to the under sink water filters, Consumer Reports recommended the OmniFilter CBF-3 Under Sink Filter System. One of our most popular under sink water filters, this system will filter out the aforementioned contaminants, plus very harmful cysts, asbestos, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds). The Consumer Reports Water Filters article stated that the OmniFilter CBF-3 boasts excellent removal of chloroform as well.
Several other water filters and water filter systems we carry received high marks, but these products were the ones that Consumer Reports listed as “best buy” or “recommended.” We cannot publish the article in its entirety here, but if you’d like to inquire about how any of our other products faired, we would happy to share any info from the Consumer Reports Water Filters article.
