need help on buying a water filter

Hi,

I am looking for an RO water filter system. I have no idea how or what to buy. I am concerned about the plastic used in water filter systems and I know that with an RO system the "bladders" need to be changed every so often. There seems to be no way to 'not' use plastic.

It sounds like RO systems are the highest quality to get rid of chemicals from a public water system. I have been told that I will need to put "raw" minerals back in the water, but then one specialist said that this was a "myth" and I don't have to put minerals back in the water with an RO system??? I also need to find a system that is NSF certified??? My bugdet is around $250 to $300. What should I expect someone to charge for installing my filter system?

Does anyone know about a "tankless" RO system?

Have you ever consulted any company who is dealing with water filter system or RO system??

My suggestion to you is first of all contact to them and then take the decision.. I think they will guide you in more better way and of course you can ask the charges for the installation also..

My bf and I bought a Multipure 880 undersink water filter -- $540.00. I can't believe how amazing the water tastes. We had been drinking "deer park" :eek: Our new water is "softer", cheeper and no more lugging in gallons of water.

I know it's not an RO system, but the Multipure didn't have mineral cartridges and I know that the water would have tasted bad without added minerals. With another brand RO system, I wouldn't know where the minerals came from; if they were synthetic or from a raw source. This system takes out a great deal, but not fluoride. The saleman said it took out fluoride (the chemical source) but the filter was not certified to do so :confused:

So... when Multipure figures out how to take out fluoride without using an aluminum cartridge we can buy the filter and add it to the 880. I simply don't know if my current filter really takes out the chemical fluoride.

I know it's not an RO, but it's still a really good filter. Also, we can add on an RO to the 880 later if we decide to.

The bf had to get a plummer to install the 880 :o

There is also lot of good information about reverse osmosis available. This information may help you better understand what you are looking for and what will best fit your system.
