I recently installed a small water fountain in my back yard and it requires distilled water to prevent stains. The problem is that it requires allot of water. I am looking for some kind of a filter system that will remove the salts from our water (San Diego Ca). I would also like to use this system to treat water for some salt sensitive plants. I recently saw that my neighbors have some kind of a pitcher in their refrigerator that treats small amounts of tap water. Will that work? Anyone have an idea. Thanks

Can you explain to me how the fountain will work? Does it need a continuous flow of filtered water or do you just add water to it and it cycles through?

Also what sort of flow rate are you looking to achieve? Or does it matter?
