I have moved into a "new to me" house recently that has a RO system installed. I dont know much about the system. The mount says
Performance Water Products, but an email to them has gone unreturned. I took apart the system and the Membrane is a GE Osmonics TFM-36, so I will replace that. However below the membrane canister are 3 vertical canisters. 2 carbon and 1 sediment filter. After opening those housings the filters themselves dont have any identifying information. They are 9.75 X 2 7/8. How do I determine which micron rating carbon block filters to purchase? 1micron, 5micron, etc? Thanks for your help. Scott |

The sediment filter is first in line. A 5-micron may be used. Then comes a carbon filter which is probably a GAC filter, then the water goes to the membrane and tank before going into the carbon block filter.
The carbon block filters are typically 5 microns as well. Check the air pressure without water; it should be 7-9psi. Andy Christensen, CWS-II |
