We pay $35 a month and they exchange the tank twice a month. We are a two person household and currently have a 50 gallon water heater.
I already knew a water softener doesn't remove harmful things to make my water safe to drink. I was just stated what I want for my home....safe drinking water.
If a water softener doesn't harm...
Gary,
Maybe you don't understand these water systems. They use raw sink/shower water that is filtered and sanitized, so it is not raw gray water. It is not drinkable water but it is clean...
Afford a water softener....yes I can. The problem is that I have no place to drain the regeneration cycle water with doing major construction.
I am still not 100% sure I need a water softener. I...
We plan on using rain water and recycle our house water for toilet water. So it got me thinking, can we recycle the regeneration water from a water softener for toilet water?
Okay so now what should we do? This economy is killing our finances and having to pay Raine every month really hurts.
And how did you calculate 13.45 gpg? What is the hardness scale?
The City got back to me again, here are the numbers:
total hardness = 230 mg/L as CaCO3
total alkalinity = 180 mg/L as CACO3
calcium = 35 mg/L
magnesium = 35 mg/L
So how bad is it?
abcd819,
Go away spammer!
Nothing mentioned on the Annual Report about, hardness, total hardness, CACO3, calcium or magnesium. I will email the water manager again and find out.
There is nothing that specifically says "hardness" in the report. From what I understand about hardness in water it is read as parts per million or weight/volume (mg/L) of calcium carbonate (CaCO3)...
Here are the numbers from the Annual Report:
Aluminum (ppm) - 0.188
Barium (ppm) - 0.091
Chlorine (ppm)- 0.80...
My city emailed me again, and said there was an error in the report indicating we don't have hard water. But according to the water plant manager he said the pH of the treated water typically ranges...
I just received an email from my city. Now they are saying the annual report information is incorrect and that we do have moderate hard water. Makes me wonder if any of the info in the report is...
Actually what I said was I have read that soft water was the cause of water heater damage. And that at one house I lived in (no water softening) we had the same water heater for 10 years without an...
Actually I can't tell the difference. Maybe I am used to it or maybe our city really doesn't have hard water.
What problem? As I already stated their recommendation was for us to do the twice a month service based on our water use.
Yes our fee would be increased for additional tanks per month but, since...
Rayne is a big company kind of like Culligan. We only have two people living in our house, so yes I think a single tank (36" tall, 8" wide) can last 14 days. We only use the soft water for...
Update:
I just received an annual water quality report from my city. In it they say our city does not have hard water. Now I am wondering if I should cancel my Rayne service.
Okay so we should keep our Rayne softener service. I was hoping to find something cheaper as Rayne is costing us $35 a month (tank is changed twiced a month).
So soft water shouldn't make a...
City, our water was never tested but I am told out here we have hard water.
This is one place I read it, http://cid-services.com/images/water%20heater%20life.pdf . There are other sites that talk...
Good point. I didn't know they were now using chloramine in place of Chlorine.
We have Rayne water softener service and they replace the canister twice a month. We do this because we have no place to put a home water softener unit that would have power and a drain. So the Rayne...
