    Default Rust Stains

What Would Cause Rust Stains In A Toilet That Had A Faulty Fill Valve? After Running For About Two Weeks The Toilet Bowl And Tank Was Coated With Rust Stains! The Building Has All Plastic Pvc Pipes.also The Toilet Tank Has All Plastic Pieces Inside....ie. Fill Valve, Flapper ,etc.
Also The Adjcent Lavatory To This One Shares The Same Water Supply And The Toilet Is Clean (no Rust Stains)any Thought?

Smile City water supply or Well water

Are you on city water or well water? If it is city water, what city are you in? Does the tank on the other lavatory without the visible stains have stains or is it stain free inside the tank as well? Thanks!

    Smile Iron and Rust Stains

Looking at your city drinking water report shows that the city is treating for high levels of maganese. Is the staining that you are seeing black or is it brown/orange? Iron and Rust can accumulate in the city pipes leading to your home. If there is any construction or pipe work in your area, it is common for the pipes to release rust sediment from the pipes ending up in your home. If your toilet was running while this sediment came through the line, it may have caused the staining. If the staining is black, then it is a different issue. You can protect your home from rust sediment easily by installing a whole house water filter system. You can also reduce chlorine in your water using this method and a carbon based filter. You can view the whole house water filter selection here.
