iron removal tank
I recently moved into house that has an iron removal tank. i was wondering if there is any maintenance or replacement parts to these tanks?
It is a structural iron tank mfg#1044200807261086

Looks like a softener. On the back of the valve above the blue tank, is the a dome-like part with a cable connecting the valve?

yes it has that cable...I have attached a pic.
What type of softener would it be? I already have another tank that is filled with salt chips which provides softening.
This tank is probably 5 years old, how long do they last? Any maintenance involved?
Thanks

OK, thanks.
The salt 'chips' does not provide softening. The water that goes to your house does not pass through the salt tank. The water passes through the other tank and hardness and iron is removed.
You have a Fleck 5600 metered softener. It is a standard, fairly reliable piece of equipment. The clock should be set to current time and regeneration set to a time when no water in the house is being used, say 2:00AM.

Ok I understand...and your right, it is set to run at 3am.
So is 5 yrs old? when does this tank need to be replaced? How can I tell when it is 'filled' and cannot remove anymore iron from my water?
Thanks again.

The media in the tank should last for years/decades. If you see iron stains or hardness deposits, then some maintenance may be needed. Keep it full of salt and change prefilter occassionally.
