    Default Filter Update

    All,

I posted a message a few days ago about what kind of fitter for my set up and it was recommended that I would probably need a standard size sediment filter.

I stopped by the local hardware store to pick up 1 filter to see how it would work out and the filter did not fit.

Once I took apart the original in-line filter I seemed to find a smaller re-usable plastic filter. The standard size filter I purchased was too long and the diameter was also too large. The filter I purchased was a string type filter and if I removed 1-2 layers of string it might fit.

Also the existing filter had an o-ring on the top and fit into the "t"-housing.

For now I just cleaned the existing filter and put it back in.

See the attachments for a look at the existing filter.

What should my next move be? Is the re-usable filter any good?

    Thanks,
    -Steve

    Steve,

Now that I can see the actual filter outside of the housing I can say for certain we don't carry any part that looks like that. It's definately not a standard size and it's probably what they can a proprietary filter. Meaning, the design is specific to a certain manufacturer, or the manufacturer/brand that made your system.

Of course, that probably won't help you if you don't know what the make or model is to your system. Are there any local water dealers in your area that you could email the pictures to and see if it's one of their systems?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    Default water filter

    Hi Steve,
We have just had a new water system put in and that is the same filter that is on our water lines. We are also having difficulty locating a filter for the system. Since it is a new well, I am having to clean the filter every two weeks or so. I have a call in to the contractor, this system so far has not been very good for our location in NC. When I find out the name and where to locate the filter I will post.
