    Default Whole House Filter

Hi, My Drinking water quaulity report is a little confusing to me but I'm sure you'll have no problems with it. (1st No. is ground water & 2nd is surface water). Hardness 216, 65 . Chlorine n/a, .58 . Iron <100, <100 . Nitrate 9.3, <2 . Total Alkalinity 176, 70 . The ground water is supposed to only constitute a small portion of the distribution system. I have a Pur water filter on the sink but would like to escape the Chlorine and mineral deposits in the rest of the house. Was thinking of a big Blue 10", maybe 1 for sediment and 1 for chlorine and contaminants. I would like your opinion, also best sizes and filters. Thanks for your help, Henry.

How is this water distributed? Is it a small system (5000 people or less) or a municipal watert supply? What are the circumstance with the surface water? River, pond, lake, etc.?

I would assume more than a simple filter would be needed.

    Default Hi Andy

The water system is for the stockton, Ca. area. (160,000+) The surface water is from at least 2 reservoir's in the foothills to the east of us. Thanks for your reply, Henry.

    Default Hello again

Hello Andy, Please excuse my ignorance of water and it's chemical and mineral make-up. I've taken it for granted all my life until a short time ago when informed about a plethora of issues including Chlorine, pharmicuticals, Radon, Nitrate, Pesticides & Herbicides, Microbial contaminants and a host of others that I didn't know existed til a week ago. The ground water comes from about 32 wells in the area. I've noticed that the filters that I've researched indicate that they condition the water for the taste and odor of chlorine but does that mean that it doesn't really remove it and if I want removal that I need to invest in a more complete system to achieve this ? Thanks for tutoring me thru this, Henry.

Hi Andy, I went back a couple of pages and found others that had similar situations that you have shared the best options to take. Looks like a shower filter and a under the sink RO, Thanks and have a good day, Henry.

    Default Water purifier

Hi, The only place I have to purchase water treatment media is from Home Depot & Lowes and I couldn't find anyone that even knew what the store offered let alone what isle it was stored. I think I remember someone in one of the threads that I read making reference to someone offering products at an on-line store. Is it ok to share the address ? If so, it would be greatly appreciated, Henry.

As always, know what's in the water before trying tpo take it out. An RO is one of the best and most efficient means to make your drinking water as close to 'pure' as you can make it.

Get a lab test for contaminants that might prove a concern, especially for health. I'm sure there are water professionals in your area. Check the yellow pages. Yes, there are on-line dealers. Forum rules usually prohibit promoting oneself.

This site can actually help you with all your needs in filtration.
