  •   Great filter, replace every 6 months

Great filter, replace every 6 months.

  •   GWF filter
    JoeM - Ashburn,VA   (Monday, April 30, 2012)

I tried a 'compatible' filter and it didn't work. The water trickled out and the water line made a sound like a jackhammer. This one works great. Sticking with GE filters for my refrigerator.

  •   MWF Water Filter
Al Carmichael - Tustin, CA   (Saturday, October 23, 2010)

I bought my new GE refrigerator with the MWF water filter in April, 2010. It's now the end of October, 2010 and the water is beginning to taste like tap water. Well, the manual did say to replaced the filter every six months. I will take it's advice. I am curious about the Aquafresh GE-compatable water filter.

  •   Filter Performance Limits
Paul - Agoura Hills, CA   (Saturday, June 05, 2010)

Replace the filter at least once a year. The filter traps contaminants by several means, not just filtration. Filtration traps cysts and particulates, but not metals as ions such as mercury, lead and arsenic, nor toxic chemicals such as pesticides. The capacity of the filter to trap toxic chemicals and metals may be saturated (that is, filled up with toxic chemicals or metals) long before the flow through the filter is slow due to accumulated trapped particulates.

  •   GE GWF
Keith Briggs - Evergreen CO   (Saturday, October 24, 2009)

I've had the original GWF for 6 years, yes years. It slowed to a trickle so now I'm replacing it. 3 choices and nobody has a comparison. Sigh. Filters are strange, they get more efficient as they filter out more stuff but capacity goes down at the same time. A filter is doing its best job (but slowly) just before it fails.
