The Holmes HEPA systems work good, especially if you are trying to control air quality for allergies, but I do question the only changing it once a year. Holmes only claims that these filters will operate efficiently for 3-6 months. If you live in a dusty area, plan on 3 months max. Also, you probably can skip buying extra of the 'foam pre-filters'. They are washable with soap and water. You can't wash or re-use the HEPA filters.
