Jessie - Indiana (Thursday, February 13, 2014)
I live in rural Indiana with extremely hard water and clear iron. I bougt this filter to replace the original sediment filter that came with my whole house filtration system. I've had my system only about 4 months and I am starting to see iron and hard water build up on my appliances, showers, toilets and washing maching. The original sediment filter was a 20 micron filter. I decided with the money I was saving buying from filtersfast.com, I'd spend a little extra and upgrade to this 1 micron filter. Since I am living on a well I am assming the cyst filtration qualities of this filter will be a benefit. A quick unscientific way to check for clear iron in your water is to put some bleach in a glass of water and it will immediately begin turning a rust color. (this is why ppl with well water tend to have dingy looking whites and it gets worse if they use bleach to 'fix' the problem) I've had this filter installed for 24 hours, I done a few loads of laundry, loads of dishes and the whole family has showered so I feel the water we are using is definitely water filtered by this new filter. I took a glass with water and poured bleach into it and even after letting it sit for hours, there is NO signs of any reddish color from clear iron. I am shocked!! And I am so so so thankful I took a chance on buying this filter. I'm not sure if this filter will make it an entire 6 mos before needing replaced but I'm so glad I have this filter. I am once again in love with my whole home filtration system.
