change filters often

This seems to be a good filter. Water quality is good, but I have used it for my autistic daughter mostly in order to avoid lead, mercury, and other impurities. One concern: it has to be changed every three weeks. Originally, I changed it once every 4-6 weeks, as I believed the advertisement had said. I wonder why the change.
