This filter is interchangeable with the Doulton W9121302 and other 10" filters that are OBE (open both ends). Silver has been used throughout human history to purify water due to the catalytic process that takes place when silver, oxygen, and micro-organisms all come together. Few other filters can provide the same level of containment reduction without the use of UV lights or more complex and expensive KDF filter material. Additionally, the ceramic filter element captures particles down to 0.5 microns in size that creates a near-impenetrable barrier to larger particles and metals that may be in water. The internal carbon filter material further increases filtration capabilities by absorbing chemical tastes and odors so that water is more clear and has fewer unpleasant tastes. As an added bonus, the outer ceramic shell can be cleaned when flow rates are reduced allowing for extended use and a greater value.
