The Fluval U1 Underwater Aquarium Filter System can be used in aquariums up to 15 gallons in capacity. The Fluval U1 Aquarium Filter System uses two stages for superior water quality and recirculation in aquariums, including two foam pad mechanical filters. The two aquarium filters used in the Fluval U1 Aquarium Filter System include:

• Stage 1 - Mechanical Filter: The Fluval U1 Foam Pad Filter (A485) for the Fluval U1 Underwater Aquarium Filter System uses porous foam to capture large particles and impurities such as dirt, sediment, sand, rust, limescale, hair, waste, and more
• Stage 2 - Mechanical Filter: The Fluval Poly Foam Pad for the Fluval U1 Underwater Aquarium Filter System uses a dense poly foam pad filter layer to remove fine debris and very small particulates

The Fluval U1 Aquarium Filtration System is engineered for top performance in aquariums up to 15 gallons, providing maximum filter surface area for superior aquarium filtration and recirculation. The Fluval U1 can also be used as a secondary aquarium filter in conjunction with larger and more advanced aquarium filter systems. Compared to many other aquarium filters, the Fluval U1 Underwater aquarium filter runs smoothly and quietly. Equipped with a flip top lid, it is designed for easy maintenance and quick filter changes.

The Fluval U1 Aquarium Power Filter System is also known by Hagen part number A-465. This is a great product I am using it as a secondary filtration for my 29 gallon Aqua Pod. It is very quiet, provides additional easy flow circulation plus it is a snap to change the filter. I think it does a great job.
