The Hydrotech 1240 M Series Reverse Osmosis System (4VTFC25G) filters water through four stages to ensure your water is free of the pathogens, dissolved solids and organics, pesticides and VOCs that lurk in your home' s tap water. This model differs from the Hydrotech 1240 E Series in that it contains an exclusive sediment filter in addition to two carbon filters and the RO membrane. It also comes with an air gap faucet that prevents waste water from reentering your fresh water supply. Filters should be replaced every 6-12 months, while membranes should be replaced every 2-5 years, depending on usage.

Features of the Hydrotech 1240 M Series RO System:

  • 25 gallons per day capacity
  • High quality reverse osmosis membrane
  • 4-gallon storage tank
  • Sediment pre-filtration
  • Pre and post carbon block filtration
  • High flow 3/8" tubing
  • Air gap chrome faucet
  • Quick-connect fittings
  • Color-coded tubing

We installed this system about 8 months ago. Initially I was disappointed because the volume of water seemed way less than what the literature promised. I called technical support and they explained that with our extremely hard water and ordinary water pressure (set at 55 psi) we would need an auxiliary pump to boost the pressure to 85 psi. The cost was about $90, which left the total system cost well below the Home Depot offerings. Fortunately the pump was very easy to install. We now get all the water we need for cooking, drinking, ice, etc. probably about 5 gallons a day. If we needed more I would opt for a larger pressure reservoir. It takes about 20 minutes to refill the reservoir when I tap it for our morning coffee. Bonus: the auxiliary pump makes a little chugging sound that reminds my of my favorite Humphrey Bogart movie, 'The African Queen.
