The FiltersFast FF 8171434 is the compatible replacement large pre-filter for the Whirlpool 8171434. This replacement large pre-filter uses an activated carbon prefilter to reduce odors found in the air and captures larger particles before they reach your HEPA filter. A prefilter acts to reduce the amount of particles your main HEPA filter has to capture. When large particles hit this element, it can be less effective at grabbing the smaller contaminants that cause most issues for allergy sufferers.
