The Spring Source SS-FM-15RA features a hard-plastic casing on the outside of the filter and a carbon-block filter media inside it that removes chlorine, odor, VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and THMs (trihalomethanes). the filtered water is great. but the shutoff lever retracts during the first weeks and then needs to be retracted manually. i called the manufacturer and they sent me a new part, but it only operated for 3 weeks. they have a design flaw. the smallest coat of lime defeats the unit. the water is still great. i changer the filters every 60 days.
