How do you install the AprilAire 216?
- Locate your home's thermostat, set the mode to "OFF" and set the fan to "AUTO".
- Open the door to your AprilAire air purifier and remove the old AprilAire 216 filter that's currently installed.
- Prior to installing the new AprilAire 216 filter, ensure the air flow arrow points toward the HVAC unit. Align the entry points on the filter with the top and bottom of the interlock rail system.
- Once the AprilAire 216 has been connected to the air purifier, push it into the system. Then, close the air purifier.
- Return your home's thermostat to its original settings.
How often should you replace the AprilAire 216?
- Changing your AprilAire 216 is a very quick and easy process that should be done once every six to twelve months.

Collected by Trustpilot.comMy furnace came with a MERV 13 filter and I wanted to switch to a MERV 16. I was concerned that because the MERV 16 filter is a better filter that there would be reduced air flow and the AC evaporator would ice up but no problems! The MERV 16 filter has more convolutions of filter material and has 70% more surface area than the MERV 13 filter. So if you have asthma like do, it is ok to switch from the MERV 13 to the MERV 16 filter.
