Well, the manual did say to replaced the filter every six months. I will take it's advice. I am curious about the Aquafresh GE-compatable water filter.

Filtration traps cysts and particulates, but not metals as ions such as mercury, lead and arsenic, nor toxic chemicals such as pesticides. The capacity of the filter to trap toxic chemicals and metals may be saturated (that is, filled up with toxic chemicals or metals) long before the flow through the filter is slow due to accumulated trapped particulates.
